Cool Off This Summer With These Pokémon Cards
As school comes to an end for summer break, fans of all kinds of card collecting are rejoicing as shows start popping up like crazy around The Mountain State! Whether it's sports or TCG, there's something out there for everyone in the card community.
Even though it's summer, sometimes it just doesn't feel like it. We've had a few rainy days and cloudy days, and just a few beautiful summer days in between! So let's talk about a few Pokémon cards that can cool us off just in time for Labor Day.
Starmie V — SWSH10 Astral Radiance Trainer Gallery
Starmie V is a perfect example of having fun in the sun. This purple starfish is placed in the pool with its loveable trainer Misty, who is bathing happily on her Poké Ball themed inner tube. What's not to love? This beauty of a card runs at about $140 Near Mint, so it's a pricey addition to that Fun in the Sun collection.

Sunflora — SV06 Twilight Masquerade 169/167
Sunflora is such a pretty card with the beautiful sun shining on the little flowers as they stand outside. It helps this underrated Pokémon shine just a little brighter among the others in this set. Not only that, but these little guys run very cheap! Near Mint is only around $7 — making this an easy addition to that summer themed page!

Tapu Koko EX — SV06 Paradox Rift 247/182
This is one of my personal favorite cards — and one I actually pulled myself! Who doesn't love one of the Tapus floating while the sun sets beyond the horizon? Not to mention Tapu Koko's beautiful yellow and orange contrasting the pink and purple colors in the sky! This beachy card sits at around $20 Near Mint. Even though it's in the mid range, it makes for a great centerpiece for any summer celebration!

Marill — SV02 Paldea Evolved 204/193
Who doesn't love the tiny blue bundle of joy swimming around in the ocean? In this card, Marill is the center of attention as onlooking ocean Pokémon watch it — you can even see a group of Luvdisc gathered in awe! However, the cute-tax does apply to this little guy. He sits at around $54 Near Mint. If you're a fan of the adorable blue ball, he's a perfect pick for your collection!

Lapras — SM Unified Minds 36/236
This one isn't a full art, but it's a perfect example of a beach day — and it wouldn't be a perfect beach day without Misty either! Lapras is seen splashing about with a gorgeous rainbow arching just over its fin. Misty stands on the sand and appears to be waving to her beloved Lapras. Not only is it cute, but it's incredibly cheap — this card sits at around $0.78 Near Mint. That's right, just 78 cents!

Oshawott — XY Steam Siege 30/114
Say hello to the water starter of the Unova region! You better say hello, because this cutie is in fact waving at you in the card! He's holding up his beloved shell and splashing about in the water, complete with little bubbles floating all around him. This little guy having fun in the sun is an incredibly cheap card to add to your summer collection — sitting at about $0.22 Near Mint. Paying cents to take this water-loving cutie home is a no-brainer.

Kyogre — Celebrations 003/025
Just because he's not a tiny fish doesn't mean this legendary Pokémon doesn't get a spot in this collection! Kyogre is part of Pokémon's 25th Anniversary set as well. He's swimming in the ocean with beautiful vibrant coral beside him — and if you look closely in the top right, you'll even spot Team Aqua's Shelly and Matt! Guess they decided to give the Admins a little shine. Not only that, but this Legendary Pokémon is cheap — around $0.39 Near Mint, he'll be swimming right alongside the rest of your collection.

Corsola — XY BREAKpoint 29/122
It wouldn't be a summer themed page without the coral Pokémon itself! Unlike the dried-out Galarian version, Corsola is a beautiful pink and is commonly found near coral in the ocean. In this card, it sits among other coral with rays of light streaming down from the sun above the ocean surface — there are even pretty pink leaves! Corsola sits at around $0.17 Near Mint, making it an absolute must-pickup.

Tatsugiri — SV Scarlet & Violet Base Set 118 Promo
Our first — and only — promo card on this list! One of the newest Generation 9 Pokémon, and a very tiny one at that. It's a cute little sushi fish that's somehow a Dragon type! In this card, it sits in a shallow pool of water with orange, pink, and yellow flowers surrounding it — all the colors Tatsugiri can be, actually. There's a beach with two trees with flowers at their base. Who wouldn't want to relax where this Pokémon is sitting? This little guy sits at $7 Near Mint, making it pretty cheap for a promo card in this era.

Build That Summer Page!
These should be just enough cards to fill up a summer page in your binder — that is, if you have a 9-pocket page! Some of you have 12! Even 16! Good on you — love to see collections growing every day.
If you're one of those people, consider looking at cards for Vaporeon, Lapras, Psyduck, Tynamo, and even Tapu Fini. They've got some very pretty cards done by wonderful artists that are sure to fit right into a summer page.
Hopefully those pretty collections are done by Labor Day weekend. Don't worry — no judgment if not!
